I thought I was insecure, asian, speccy, 5ft 5in and my 30th is four months away. I was in Boots the other day looking at Olay Regenerist products that an over airbrushed editor of some woman's mag had been promoting recently (Polypeptides...? Wow is this better than Boswollox?)
I asked the assistant for help, she asked politely how old I was, expressed her surprise at my age, told me I had great skin etc and advised against purchasing Regenerist as I didn't need it (yet).
I was flattered but because I'd already purchased Total Effects Anti Ageing Moisturiser and supporting night cream, serum and eye cream then I should buy a facial wash with similar qualities. (T thought it was funny when I asked him to promise not to be put off by the array of treatments I had in the bathroom, he smiled when I screamed from the bedroom upon discovering a second white hair, have one on each temple- he said it would be great if I had two streaks of white hair like bride of Frankenstein...)
The assistant told me she was 26 and her mother had told her to stop using anti- ageing products as she was too young but she'd read that she should be starting a new regime at 25 as a preventative measure.
It's so sad that a females are being screamed at by magazines and adverts to stop the seven signs of ageing but in their twenties applying lyptophonetomesciacticprobioticlasiktons (tm) that's scary.
I've been to that Space NK shop in Princes Square and oh my god, there were products in test tube containers - as if scienctific packageing and adding Dr would justify your spend of £100 on a vitamin C powder to dab under your eyes.
I ended up buying a standard Olay wash, I'd rather save money for my birthday weekend trip to Manchester in July and there's always botox at 35 for the brow furrow that's been developing...

age is not a disease, age is not a disease, age is not a disease....
Could it be that none of them really work at all?
And anyway, she's at her most beautiful au naturelle.
