Waking up in a bed without marriage partner, in a different town, on our anniversary was quiet sad actually. All because of a telephone company.
5wks ago, I reviewed our usage and costs with Virgin for phone, TV and broadband, worked out we'd be at least £40/mth better off switching to BT. Researched the web and even Which? recommended their Total Broadband option for our needs. Of course in order to take advantage of the vast majority of other broadband providers we would need a BT line anyway, we also have an existing BT line in the house, easy peasy.
To be honest we started with ntl 4 years ago and their broadband price kept increasing, our phone bills seemed pretty high and then Virgin took over. Never mind the Sky fiasco but at least 3/4 times a week the programme information disappears, I like the element of surprise now and again and waiting for the ad to finish to find out what programme's coming on but hey I paid for a service and it's not there. Plus the cost of the 'large' broadband was pretty high considering we have 2MB broadband but through a cable modem (how does that work?)
Instead of being welcomed back with open loving arms, BT went and cocked it up
They put me on a new database, the order was complete on one system, incomplete on another, 'open' on another and OpenReach sat and scratched their arse through the whole thing - even querying the identity of previous owner of my home Yasmin Cocozza and if it was me? IDIOTS (she did move to her new home across the street from my mum...)
After spending a day over a 7 working day period of calling and hanging in queues and being transferred round and round and round, 2 complaints on the website, 2 to Of Com. I now have a direct tel and email of staff no. 24 from BT who actually knows her arse from her elbow - I think it helped that I told her that I stand to lose my job due to this mess (which is technically true) After this is fixed I will be sending in ooh at least a five page letter with every department, time of call, waiting and drone that I spoke to I already know the address of the worst department out of the lot and certainly if no. 24 is able to fix the whole lot I will be making sure she gets something nice from me.
At my parents in law until Saturday, to at least complete most of my training on the Mac whilst conferenced in to sessions, T's got my mobile as thankfully I took out a new contract which had roll over minutes.
Don't even get me started on the Mac/Microsoft farce. I really really want to love Macs but as PCs run most of the world, some of the courses wouldn't start so I joined Paisley Central library today where I was only allowed 2hrs on a PC....for the day. So back to Glasgow tomorrow at the local library then back to Paisley for their library. I'm think I'm actually going mad - it's also to see T of course.
So are BT the only evil bastards here? My brother and sister in law have been having ongoing issues with ntl Telewest/Virgin, their complaints were at least responded to but completely inadequately and Virgin have gone back on things they originally promised.
I never did bother going to that other interview, it was the same wage and financial services (yawn) they wanted me to bring in a power point presentation on what my 3mth team objectives would be (what a load of wank) maybe I should have...
Another manager in my training group has had to move in with her parents because her broadband company (Orange) have been promising to fix it for nearly 2wks. She's decided to get a 2nd line installed with yours truly of course for £125 and get another broadband provider to that whilst she fights with Orange. Also, another manager has the telephone line, the broadband and the company computer and hasn't been able to connect to their 'virtual private network' since she started...no guarantees really.
I sent an email to my new manager today- she's been emailing ferociously about calls stats etc but not come back to me. So place bets now, will she sack me or not?
